Athletics during vacations
Athletes will be given a practice game schedule prior to the sports season. When accepting a uniform it is the expectation of the Kennebunk Athletic Department and coaches that the athlete will be at practices and contests during vacations. We ask the cooperation of the parents in assisting the athlete in this commitment. An athlete's status on a team may be affected if not available during this time.
Single Season Sports
Kennebunk High School students will be allowed to represent, practice and compete for KHS in only one sport per sports season. Any student who wishes to change sports with the approval of the athletic director in the consultation with the respective coaches of the opening practice may request that option. This includes participation in practices for another sport.
Athletic Teams Selection
It is the intention of the Kennebunk Athletic Department that every student be involved in an extra curricular activity. Although this is our intention, a students first choice of team might not be available to him/her. Prior to the season, coaches of teams that will limit the number of players will state this at an informational meeting. Amount of equipment/uniforms, coach/athlete ratio, facility size, available playing time are all factors in limiting the size of a team. Coaches will make the decision on players selected to a team after a tryout period. Any athlete released from a team will be talked to individually by the coach and encouraged to try out for another athletic team.
